Foreign Consultant Veterinarian
Dr. Zenithson Ng is very excited to join the ICVS team as a foreign veterinary consultant. Born and raised in northern New Jersey of the United States, he has known his entire life that his calling was to become a veterinarian. Dr. Ng received his Bachelor’s of Science degree from Rutgers University with a major in animal science and minor in equine science. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Cornell University and completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) in New York City. Dedicating his life to improving animal and human health, Dr. Ng has worked with a wide variety of animals in many different settings. He has conducted research in equine exercise physiology, reproductive neurophysiology, circadian behavior, pet identification, and veterinary communications. He also has a special interest in the dynamic relationship between humans and animals and the healing power of pets, which has given him the opportunity to work for Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS), a nonprofit organization committed to providing for the special needs of underprivileged, immunocompromised, and disabled people and their pets. Dr. Ng has worked with the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Governmental Relations Division, delving into legislation and policy regarding veterinary medicine in Washington, DC. He is a certified equine massage therapist and has lectured and developed practical teaching seminars regarding llama, alpaca, and swine health and husbandry. Aside from his focus on the human-animal bond, animal assisted therapy, and communications, Dr. Ng’s professional interests include internal medicine, oncology, preventive health, and shelter medicine. He enjoys the beach, water sports, horseback riding, exploring new cities, and baked goods.

Amy S. Kapatkin, DVM, MS, DipACVS
Professor of Orthopedic and Neurosurgery & Foreign Consultant Veterinarian
Dr. Kapatkin received her B.S. in Animal Science in 1978 from Purdue University and her D.V.M. from GAUF in the Philippines in 1981. Her internship and surgical residency were at The Animal Medical Center (AMC) in New York from 1985-1990 after 4 years of general practice. She spent 6 additional years at the AMC as a staff orthopedic surgeon, then spent 8 years at the University of Pennsylvania as an Assistant and then Associate Professor in Orthopedic Surgery and has been at University of California, Davis since 2004 as an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Kapatkin received her MS in 2006 from University of California, Davis while on faculty. She is a member of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, on the board of regents for the college and her research interests are clinical trials using kinetics and kinematics leading to evidence based medical knowledge.
Dr. Kapatkin is married to Dr. Bob Poppenga, a veterinary toxicologist Professor at the University of California, Davis. They have an 8 and an 11 year-old Chinese daughter sparking some of their interest and devotion to China. Dr. Kapatkin enjoys time with her family (including her pets), traveling, meeting new people and running.

Dr. Yang is a practicing veterinarian with more than 30-years experience in veterinary laboratory diagnostics and clinical veterinary medicine in the PRC. Dr. Yang was part of the first group of 80 veterinarians that were licensed in 1997 by the Beijing Municipal Government to practice veterinary medicine. Prior to joining the International Center for Veterinary Services as a staff veterinarian at its inception in 2005, Dr. Yang was the chief veterinarian at the San Yuan Clinic, a branch of the Huadu Animal Hospital.
